What is a focus trap and why is it a problem?
A focus trap occurs when keyboard focus enters an element, like an open modal, and can’t leave using standard keys. WCAG 2.1.2 requires that if focus can be moved into a component with the keyboard, it can also be moved out using only the keyboard, without a mouse rescue.
Why does the skip link need to move focus, not just scroll?
A skip link that only scrolls the page leaves keyboard focus back at the top of the header. The next Tab press continues through the menu again instead of entering the main content, which defeats the purpose. The plugin sets programmatic focus on the target region, not just visual position.
My theme already removed the outline: none CSS. Do I still need this?
